More footage from Chasing Ice, this time an astonishing clip of the largest iceberg calving ever recorded. Arctic sea ice levels this summer hit a record low; according to the U.S. National Snow & Ice Data Centre in September, more than 600,000 square kilometres more ice had melted in 2012 than was ever recorded by satellites before. We are indeed melting our children’s future, and apparently many of us are too busy to hold our governments to account for their lack of action.

I couldn’t agree more about governments not being held to account. The UK government for instance has just agreed to allow fracking for gas in the UK and for 30 new gas fired power stations – ensuring continued emissions of GWGs whilst undermining the alternative energy industry – all in the pretense of saving money, not the planet !
Our governments are followers, not leaders. They are accustomed to following those with the deepest pockets rather than the people – it’s time we change that, and use the 3 things we all have – our time, our dime, and our voice. We don’t how powerful we are!
